As the unemployment rate in the country keeps soaring high, many more people have been stressing the need for vocational education as catalyst to
reduce unemployment and give rise to self employment in the country.
The head of department of vocational education of the Nnamdi University Awka, Dr Mrs Justina Ezenwafor, advocated for skills acquisition , information communication technology trainings, and technical education as viable solutions towards addressing the unemployment situation in Nigeria.
Dr Ezenwafor who spoke with newsmen in Awka, charged the youths rather than wait for white colar job, to take advantage of the vast opportunities in learning skills that will enhance their socio- economic viability.
She called on governments at all levels to create an enabling environment for the promotion of vocational education in Nigeria.
For a lecturer in the department of vocational education Nnamdi Azikiwe university, Dr Chika Ileh Madu, stressed the need for effective records management in organizations for planning , security of documents, and their growth.
In their separate remarks, Dr Mrs Amaka Okeke and reverend sister Dr Mary Noeleen Obi, also of the department of vocational education UNIZIK, spoke on the imperatives of maintaining a good filing system for good records keeping and proper documentation in organizations.
The university Dons expect secretaries and administrative assistants in government and private establishments to develop their skills in good filing method for the preservation of official documents of their organizations.
