The 2016 annual conference of Nigeria library Association has ended  with a call on stakeholders to develop a holistic  approach towards quality Education and learning opportunity.

The event which has its theme as “Equitable Quality Education and learning Opportunity for sustainable development : The role of the library” took place at Kenneth Dike E- Central Library Awka with erudite scholars, national and state members of the association in attendance.

Declaring the conference open, the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta, represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr Bejamin Umerah, described social library benefit as inevitable component in governance which contributes in capacity building to meet the current challenges in learning.
Ogbuefi Nnachetta added that government has provided library infrastructure to enable individuals  compete favorably in both national and international competitions.

He however charged librarians to live up to their responsibilities as their services in one way or the other  contribute to the development of the country .    
Delivering a keynote address, a Librarian with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Reverend Professor Obiora Nwosu said library has specific role to play in the implementation of the 2030 sustainable development Goals.

In his speech, the National President, Nigerian Library Association, Dr Umunna Opara, commended Anambra state chapter of the Association for taking the lead in providing library information and service, which he said contribute in providing life long learning opportunities for sustainable development.
Earlier in a welcome address, the state chairman Nigeria library Association, Dr Ebele Anyaoku said based on the understanding on all inclusive education and life long opportunities for all people at all time to reduce inequality, the state Chapter of the association during their week visited Adult Education centers, Orphanages and secondary schools in the state, to develop resources especially electronic resources to meet the needs of potential users.

The chairman on the occasion, Sir Onwuka, eulogized the doggedness of the out- going executive of the association which he said made Anambra state to be at the top in the provision of library information and services.
Highpoint of the event was award presentation to distinguished personalities and outgoing executive members of the state chapter of the association.
