The State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Arut International Limited for Infrastructural Development of the first phase of Millennium City Housing Estate in Awka.

Under the MoU with a total investment worth sixteen point seventy seven billion naira to be established on  one thousand, one hundred and fifty seven plots of land, the state is to contribute 2.01 billion naira and the developer,  14.76 billion naira.
The project with a timelag of 18 months, will see the investor establish sights and services including roads, water and power projects, police post,  hospital, shopping mall and other compliments of a standard housing estate.
Governor Obiano while signing the MoU documents, noted that the project brings to ten, the number of investors which his administration had attracted in real estate development into the state while a total of 28 investors have signed MoUs with the state government across various sectors.
The governor noted that the landmark initiative of his administration has been key to its success in attracting investors into the state.
He urged real estate developers in the state to support the green revolution initiative of his government by avoiding felling of generic trees which do not stand in the way of their construction work.
The governor further tasked the investor to sustain the pace of work on the site to ensure that the project is delivered on schedule.
Earlier, the Chairman of ANSIPPA and traditional ruler of Umuoji, Igwe Cyril Enweze described the project as a flagship investment in that it is being executed by a renowned citizen of the state as well as because of the employment prospects it holds for the state.
The Chairman of the investing company, Senator Annie Okonkwo represented by the Managing Director of the Company, Mr Makiavelli Okafor said they are committed to ensuring that the project is executed in record time and in compliance with the stipulations of the MoU details.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, Awka Capital Territory Development Authority, ACTDA, Mr Mike Okonkwo assured that his agency will ensure that the project is done according to the development manual introduced to control infrastructural development in the capital territory.
In a vote of thanks, the Commissioner for Roads Infrastructure and furniture, Chief Law Chinwuba expressed the hope that when completed, the project will help reverse the negative trend where Ndi Anambra live in other states and work in Anambra due to inadequate housing services.
Formal signing of the MoU documents by the governor and the investor formed the highpoint of the event.
