The need for accountability in service was brought to the fore, at the maiden edition of the Anambra South Senatorial district town hall meeting which attracted elected and political appointees of the District in both National and State levels.
The town hall meeting is an initiative of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU aimed at providing an avenue for members of the district to interact with their elected and other political appointees on issues affecting the development of the area.
Speaking at the event, the member representing Ihiala Two Constituency in the state House of Assembly, Mr Paschal Agbodike, commended ASATU for organizing the programme while stating that the programme which is the first of its kind has availed the people the opportunity to ask their representatives questions and see how they have fared in their responsibilities.
Earlier in his address, the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU, Dr Jude Okolo said that the event is geared towards providing a platform for articulated solutions to the common problems facing the District.
Dr Okolo used the opportunity to commend Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts in transforming the state especially the twenty million community choose your project initiative and announced that ASATU is in full support of the rotational arrangement for the gubernatorial seat adding that the Association will close ranks with Anambra North Senatorial District to enable it complete its eight years term.
Also speaking, the Chairman on the occasion and Board of Trustees Chairman of ASATU, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene praised Governor Obiano for giving full support and credence to the Association.
