The State Government is fine-tuning plans to organize a town hall meeting in the twenty-one local government areas of the state.

The meeting which is expected to last between two to three hours, will centre on presenting and explaining to stakeholders government policies and stimulus package for them to key in.
Following Governor Obiano’s Special broadcast on the Economic Stimulus package, the ministry of Information and Communication Strategy in collaboration with the ministry of Economic Planning, Budget and Development including other ministries and government agencies organized a press briefing aimed at internalizing the stimulus package in journalists for proper dissemination.

The Press briefing which took place at the conference hall of the government house Awka, attracted journalists from print and electronic media including online publishers and the Managing Director and Chief Executive officer of the ABS, Nze Uche Nworah among other dignities.

Addressing the college of journalists, the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta, said following the suspension of the sale of consolidated emblems and wheelbarrow tax in all markets as well as of imposition of unapproved levies on students in public primary and secondary schools in the state anybody caught indulging in such practice will be made to face the wrath of the law.
Ogbuefi Nnachetta noted that the twenty billion naira worth of stimulus package will run for the next eight months, for the state to survive the present economic recession.
Contributing, the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development, Mr. Mark Okoye, added that the programme is carefully packaged to intervene in the main sectors of Industry/manufacturing, Agriculture and trade which according to him provide sixty-eight per cent of the jobs in the state.
Mr. Okoye who noted that the economic recession has great impact on the IGR, announced that their next bench mark is two point two billion naira.
On his part, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Small Business Agency, (ASBA), Mr. Clement Chukwuka, disclosed that Anambra Rice is not owned by the state government but by private sector driven activity.
