The Commissioner for Health, Dr. Josephat Akabuike, says the State Health insurance Scheme in the House of Assembly when passed will give Ndi Anambra affordable and quality health care.
Dr. Akabuike stated this at the capacity building sensitization state social Health Insurance Scheme (SSHIS) held in Awka.
Dr. Akabuike represented by his administrative Assistant, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo, said that the state health insurance scheme when passed will give the citizenry irrespective of their social and financial status access to quality, affordable and efficient health care system and disclosed that Governor Willie Obiano has equipped government hospitals in the state with the state of the art health facilities to solve the health needs of Ndi Anambra.
Commissioner Akabuike commended the National Health Insurance Scheme for the sensitization programme assuring that the state government will collaborate with them to achieve the needed universal health coverage.
According to the Deputy General Manager and State Coordinator, National Health Insurance Scheme, Mrs. Nma Gettroid Ossi, said the scheme which started in the state in 2014, aimed among other things to reduce maternal mortality, as well as morbidity rate and also give Nigerians access to quality and affordable health care system.
In their separate speeches, two of the participants, the head legal and administration department of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) Mrs. Juliet Amasiatu and Assistant Chief Administration office of the ABS, Mrs. Uju Ike, described the programme as incisive and educative.
