Residents of flood prone communities in Anambra state a hereby advised to be on the alert and ready to relocate to safer grounds in order to avoid this year’s impending flood disaster.
This clarion call is sequel to the frightening reports by the Nigerian Meteorological Institute, NIMETH and Nigerian Hydrologica Service Agency, NIHSA as well as the authorities of Niger Republic, that the River Niger will overflow its bank any moment from now year, with adverse consequences.
Residents of communities in the concerned local governments areas should remain vigilant and evacuate immediately they notice dangerous rise in the water levels of their rivers and streams.
1. The Internally displaced persons camps for Ayamelum and some parts of Anambra East Local Government Areas are located at Ayamelum local government headquarters Anaku, Omor Health centre, Ifite Ogwari Health centre, Skill acquisition centre, health centre Igbaukwu and Umueje.
2. IDPs is from Anambra East and West should go to the Local Government Headquarters Otuocha, Fr. Joseph Memorial Secondary School, Aguleri, Ama-igwe, Aguleri, Umueri General Hospital, Unity Primary School Umuoba and St. Augustine, Umuoba.
3. Ogbaru IDPs should go to local government headquarter Atani, Central School Odekpe and St. James Anglican Church, Odekpe.
4. Onitsha South local government headquarters and Township Stadium Fegge will also accommodate IDPs from Ogbaru.
5. Onitsha North local government headquarters GRA, Crowther and New Bethel Primary Schools as well as Sharon House will serve as IDP camp for flood victims from Ogbaru and Anambra West Local Government Areas .
6. For IDPs from Awka North their camps are at Agueke Primary School Ugbenu, Central School Ugbene and Central School Oba Ofemmili
7. Flood Victim in Ihiala should go to IDP camps at St. Paul Ihiala and the Local government headquarters will the IDPs in Ekwusigo local government area will be quartered at the Local government Secretariate and Akwa Town Hall Ozubulu
8. Finally Flood victims in Akwaukwu in idemili south have their IDP camp at the local government headquarter Ojoto.
