The need for young writers to be more creative and have passion for their job has been stressed.
This charge was given by Mr Osita Ike at the 2016 Read Across Nigeria organized by the Society of Young Nigerian Writers Anambra State Chapter.
Mr Ike who was a resource person at the event which took place in Awka, encouraged the participants who are mostly writers to read extensively in order to garner knowledge and skills, that will help them to publish quality works.
He advised the writers not to put their minds on making money while writing, pointing out that every quality work produced by a writer is rewarding.
For the Coordinator of the Association of Young Nigerian Writers, Anambra State Chapter, Mr Okafor Isuu, the event was to commemorate this year’s National Reading day as well as honour the former National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Dr Wale Kediran for his numerous contributions to the literary world.
One of the participants, Miss Vivian Anyanwu from Community Secondary School Okpuno in Awka South Local Government Area who is an Author said some of the challenges confronting them is lack of fund to publish their works and called for both government and individual assistance.
