The State Government is to take proactive measures to ensure zero tolerance to Okada operation on the major express ways of the state.
A monitoring exercise conducted by the ABS revealed that so many Okada operators still ply the ever busy roads in the state, not minding the life threatening dangers associated with it.
Honorable Romanus Ejikeme, described the act as illegal, saying that the restriction of Okada Operation on the high ways by the state government is for the safety of the Okada Operators, and should be respected.
He regretted that some of the recalcitrant operators even ply without helmet, thereby endangering their lives and that of the passengers.
Honorable Ejikeme stated that the state is to employ the task force to join in checkmating the activities of the Okada operators on the high ways, noting that anyone caught would face the full wrath of the law.
On his part, the Deputy Chairman of the State Road Transport Association of Nigeria, Comrade Joseph Nwabueze, disclosed that the union has already warned its members against the illegal act, saying that offenders are doing so at their own risk.
