The State Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, Chief Anthony Omeligwe-Elee has condemned the recent increase in the electricity tariff in the country.
Speaking with journalists in Awka, Chief Elee, who called for the reversal of the tariff to the status quo, decried a situation where Nigerians use electricity only five days in a month yet they were billed by the electricity distribution company.
He charged the authorities in the Electricity Distribution Company to embark on the distribution of the prepaid meters so that the electricity consumers should pay according to their consumption as obtained in the western world.
On the issue of the removal of the subsidy on kerosene, Chief Omeligwe Elee, described kerosene as very essential commodity in the country and wondered why federal government should hike the price from fifty naira to eighty-three naira per litre especially now the country is facing untold hardship.
