The wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Oby Okeke has called on Anambra women to form cooperatives in order to access the soft loans from the CBN and Bank of Agriculture,
through the Anambra Small Business Agency.
The Deputy Governor's Wife was speaking at Obu Umunri, Enugwu-Ukwu unbehalf of the Wife of the Governor, Chief Mrs Eberechukwu Obiano, during the Enugwu-Ukwu Development Union, Women's Wing Convention twenty seventeen.
The Deputy Governor's wife, while congratulating the executives of the ECDU women's wing, pointed out that being one of the many interventions of the present government, the loan will help the women as well as other categories of people accessing it to become self reliant and create employment, adding that the Nkwo to the express road is already ongoing and will soon be taken delivery of, as according to her, the State has been blessed with good leaders, over the years.
She emphasized that having toured round the Communities in the State, Enugwu-Ukwu is one of the most peaceful, saying that the fund for the upgrading of the Ebugwu-Ukwu General Hospital had already been approved by the exco, among other strides of the present administration for the Community.
While emphasizing the need to accord maximum support to the Obiano-led government, to continue its good work,
Mrs Okeke also reminded the women of the many life changing efforts of the wife of the Governor, targeted towards the indigent, aged, widows, among others stressing that the best thing the women can do is to mobilize more support for the present government.
The wife of the Traditional Ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Lady Dora Ekpe who commended the initiative of instituting a women's convention, said that it will help the women appreciate what the association stand for, as well as make them know their right as indigenes and wifes in the Community which cuts across denominations.
While calling on them to make sure to register in the ongoing voters registration exercise, as well as take part in all developmental efforts in the State, Lady Ekpe called on women to become agents of change where ever they find themselves, and make concerted efforts towards eliminating social vices among their wards, to entrench peace in the Society.
Earlier, the President of Enugwu-Ukwu Development Union, Women's Wing, Chief Ongodi Nkwoji was full of appreciation to God for making the day a reality, expressing optimism that the coming year's August Convention will be celebrated in the Women Centre currently under construction.
Some deserving women were set aside as Patronesses including the mother to the MD/CEO, ABS, Nze Uche Nworah.
