The Conference which was held at Jessy Hotels, Awka, attracted stalwarts of the party, ward and local government Chairmen as well as women and youths leaders.
In a welcome speech, the Anambra State Secretary of the party, Mr Carl Mbanefo, said the meeting was to enable all party leaders and other faithful draw a road map ahead of November eighteen Governorship election, and to sensitize all on the need to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, which, he said, qualifies one as member of the party.
The party’s National Chairman, High chief Ambrose Owuru, represented by the State Chairman, Engineer Sam Oraegbunam, said the emergence of Hope Democratic Party was to provide alternative platform to all other political parties.
Chief Owuru was optimistic that with the necessary machineries put in place, the party guarantees free and fair primaries as well as take care of other related challenges. He however added that although the party is not in a hurry to pick the party’s flag bearer, choice of candidates will be based on the need of Ndi Anambra.
In a speech, the State Woman Leader, Chief Mrs Nkem Emeodi, charged women to be responsive and avoid being misguided by money bag politicians.
Rather, she said, they should allow their conscience to guide them when the time to choose arises. Musical renditions and unveiling of the party anthem formed the highpoints of the event.
