State Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke has described the Anambra Central Senatorial District Rerun Election as peaceful.
Deputy Governor Okeke stated this shortly after exercising his franchise at Uruokwe Primary School, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Council Area.
Though the unit has over three hundred registered voters, as early as nine o’clock in the morning; the turnout was still low while accreditation and voting went on simultaneously.
Deputy Governor Okeke, who voted at about half past ten in the morning, in company of his wife, Mrs. Oby Okeke, said the district had been without a senator for over two years, describing the election as imperative.
He urged voters to conduct themselves orderly as measures have been put in place by INEC to ensure smooth process.
Dr. Okeke stressed that about fourteen other candidates are contesting the election against insinuations that it is a walk over for just one candidate, cautioning against statements and actions that can unnecessarily heat the polity and cause chaos in the State.
At Enugwu-Ukwu Ward three, Comrade C. Akpalankwu commended INEC for conducting the election in spite of oppositions, pointing out that it is the legal thing to do.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
