NUJ media games kicks off in Anambra


The 2016 edition of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) media games has kicked off in Awka.

The tournament started with the Nigeria Union of Journalists football team trading tackle with Priests of the Catholic Diocese of Awka at the corporate headquarters of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, the venue of the event.
Speaking to Newsmen shortly after the opening match, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Emmanuel Ifesinachi, commended the participants for exhibiting high sense of patriotism and maturity.
On his part, the Managing Director and Editor in chief of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation, the publishers of National light, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, described the event as interesting and rewarding.
The Chairman planning committee of the 2016 NUJ media games, Mr. Damian Egwuonwu, restated the commitment of the committee to making the event the best and warned participants against sharp practices.
The captain of NUJ football team, Mr. Abuchi Onwumelu, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the team in the match.
In a speech, the captain of catholic priest’s football team, Reverend Father Anthony EzeOkeke, appreciated the high spirit and co-operation of the team during the game.
