Indeed, after what has been widely adjudged as a most phenomenal year, Governor Obiano has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that he knows what it takes to build a modern state.
In a year that Anambra made headlines with its agricultural exploits, pioneering organized export of farm produce to the UK and flooding the local market with highly sought after Anambra Rice, Governor Obiano had unwittingly set himself apart for recognition.
The governor is also widely applauded for the quick thinking that informed his rolling out a timely Economic Stimulus Package to cushion the effects of the current recession on the people of his state.
Indeed, Obiano is highly commended for adopting a bottom-up development model that allows the 181 communities in the state to choose a project of their preference that the state would build in their locality valued at N20m. This initiative is considered audacious in view of the prevailing recession but it is probably the best way to a meaningful development in a peculiar environment like Nigeria.
Obiano is also a winner of The Sun Governor of the Year and the Zik Prize for Good Governance.
Senator Ben Bruce, Founder of Silverbird Group had in a tweet on New Year's day, announcer Governor Obiano as the winner.
