Skill Acquisition Identified As Catalyst For Development


Skill acquisition and Entrepreneurship training has been described as one of the bed rocks of development in nascent society.

Speaker after Speaker raised the awareness at the flag off of the federal youth Development centre Mgbakwu.
Over one hundred and fifty youths drawn from the twenty – one Local Government Areas partook in the maiden edition of the skill acquisition and empowerment program to nib poverty and unemployment in the board.
Speaking to the ABS during the event, Tony Uche Ezekwelu and Mr. John Nwaokoye said skill acquisition and self empowerment programmers remain the only solution to the challenge of unemployment in the country.
They noted that the state Government to had set- up an Agency, ASBA, to provide a start off fund to equip the youths at the completion of the training.
On his part, the Awka North APGA Chairman, Mr. Uzoma Mbaonu commended the leadership quality of Governor Willie Obiano, adding that the Federal youth Development centre has been abandoned since 2008 until governor Obiano intervened and put the facility to use .
Contributing, one of the trainers, Mrs. Nkechi Udegbuka extolled the initiative of the state government and expressed optimism that the youths when fully trained will make the state a reference point for youths of other states in terms of innovate talents.
She urged the youths to utilize the opportunity provided for them to become job creators
Some of the trainees including Mr. Akachukwu Onyebuchi -Nwobu from Awka North and Miss Chekwube Zubees from Awka South, thanked the state government for the training opportunity.
