Nursing mothers in the state have been advised to utilize the opportunity provided by the federal government for the free immunization of their children between
zero to five years to reduce child's death to the bearest minimum.
The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, gave the advice at Oraukwu, in Idemmili North local government area during the official flag off of the second National Immunization Plus Days.
The Governor, who was represented by his wife, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, restated the commitment of his administration to prioritizing the good health and welfare of the citizenry, pointing out that renovation and equipment of all the primary health centres in the state is still ongoing.
He enjoined the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike, to ensure that all the vaccines needed for the exercise are provided in all health centres in the state for all children both in urban and rural areas to benefit from the gesture.
In a remark, the representative of Management Support team National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mr. Sule Ahmed, who lauded the giant strides of the Obiano led administration in the Health sector of the state, said the team was in the state to ensure smooth immunization exercise, even as he commended the peace and tranquility provided by the administration for the state's residents.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Akabuike, while listing the numerous achievements of the state government on the Health sector, charged parents to endeavor to make their children available for the immunization exercise so as to help achieve the target of the government to reducing child mortality to the barest minimum.
