The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has unveiled varieties of loan packages for all categories of enterprise owners in Anambra State, with keen interest to Agriculture.
The loans, which include Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund (MSMEDF), Anchor Borrowers Programme, Real Sector Support Facility, among others, attracts only nine percent interest, and cut across all categories of self-employed people, including artisans, hair dressers, farmers, traders, manufacturers, among others according to CBN, was designed to shore up the business environment in the country, and by this, tackle poverty in the country.
According to Acting Director, Corporate Communications, CBN Mr. Isaac Okoroafor, the bank decided to put in place, a number of programmes to stabilize the economy, having realized that crude oil, which Nigerians had hinged their lives on for many years, might soon dry up, hence the need for alternatives to ensure that the economy remains afloat.
The Branch Controller, CBN, Awka, who spoke through Mrs. Okparaeke B.N of the Development Finance Services, warned prospective applicants not to fall victim of fraudsters in the course of applying for the loans, stressing that the Apex bank has no agents that mobilize people for the loans, and maintained that the interventions are free, and CBN is not in partnership with any organization.
