COOU VC, Okafor Advocates Bursary, Scholarship For Students


The Vice Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Professor Fidelis Okafor,

has appealed to government at all levels to award bursary and scholarships to students studying agriculture in the country.

Professor Okafor, made the appeal at the sixth inaugural lecture series organized by the Faculty of Agriculture of the University, at its Igbariam campus.

Professor Okafor, who commended the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Edward Chukwuka-Orji, for organizing the lecture, regretted that students no longer show interest in studying Agriculture and called for collective effort in improving the sector in the country.

He enjoined parents and guardians to encourage their children and wards to develop interest in agriculture and enjoined the State and federal governments to introduce bursary and scholarships as incentives to students interested in the study.

Presenting the citation of the inaugural lecturer, Professor Chukwuka-Orji, Dr John-Paul Iloh, explained that he has published over one hundred articles and presently the Dean Faculty of Agriculture in the University among others stressing that the lecture will certainly educate and sensitize the public.

The inaugural lecturer, Professor Chukwuka-Orji, took time to educate the students and those present on the topic, Agro forestry and Allied farming, among others.

Reacting to the lecture, Professor Obiajulu Obikeze urged students and government to continue to encourage agriculture.

Drama and Musical performances by the students of the Faculty formed the highpoint of the event.
