The traditional Ruler of Umuoba-Anam community, Anambra East Local government Area, Igwe George Ekwealor, has called on Federal Government to arrest and
prosecute perpetrators and promoters of hate speeches in the country as a deterrent to others.
The Traditional Ruler was speaking in his palace while playing host to the former State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Awka, Dr Mike Ozoemena, and his management team who were in the community as part of activities to mark the flag-off of the Peace and Security Awareness Campaign of the Federal Government in the area.
Igwe Ekwealor, who described peace and security as very crucial in the conduct of the November eighteen Governorship election in the state, assured that the community would support in spreading the good news with a view to ensuring that peace reigns before, during and after the election .
Earlier in a remark, the former State Director, NOA, Dr Ozoemena, called on the electorate in the area to eschew violence during the election, calling on the stakeholders in the area to key into the peace crusade and assist in propagating it to all corners in the community and beyond.
He charged the people to say no to hate speeches that could trigger off crisis and other anti peace acts that could truncate the election, describing Anambra state as the heart beat of not only Ndigbo but entire Nigeria.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
