stakeholders in the Agric sector and people from all works of life gathered to commemorate the 2017 World Food Day and State Agric show
The event which has its theme as, “ Changing the Future of Migration: Invest in Food Security and Rural Development, kick started with a road show that saw farmers in a long convoy through Saint Mathew’s Catholic church Amawbia, to Eke Awka down to Agu Awka and finally ended at Ekwueme Square.
Addressing the mammonth crowd, the Minister Of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe, extolled Governor Obiano for choosing Agriculture as the number one of his developmental policy drive to ensure food security in the country.
Chief Ogbe, represented by the Regional Director, South East, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development, Sir Nnamdi Ibezim, urged the state farmers to take advantage of the numerous Agric processing equipment at the regional and state offices of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture at very subsidized rate.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Afam Mbanefo who described agriculture as wealth driven sector across all the value chains, said the Ministry will develop more farms under dry season farming through cooperative farm development programmee to boost vegetable production.
On their parts, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Farm, Mrs Theresa Okoye and the Director of Agric in the Ministry, and State Programme Coordinator, Value Chain Development Programme, IFAD Assisted, Mr. Nnamdi Agwuncha, described the show as practical demonstration of the state’s breakthrough in the Agric sector.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
