The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo, has restated commitment to facilitate academic exercise that will improve the quality of education in the institution.


The Rector represented by the Polytechnic Director of Academic planning, Mr. Ifeanyichukwu Okonkwo, disclosed this during the twenty-seventh annual seminar of National Association of Polytechnic Accountancy students, NAPAS, Oko chapter at the school lecture theatre.


Correspondent, Emmanuel Chigbata, was there for the ABS and reports that the theme for the seminar was “The Impact of Digital Forensic Investigation on Economic Development of Nigeria”.


The Rector said that one of the greatest problem of Nigeria is lack of purposeful principles, adding that the accountancy profession as one of the professional bodies is skilled with purposeful principles in order to possess the potency to revive the nation’s economy especially this time the government is making effort to diversify the economy.


In a lecture by the team of Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC, represented by the Head of Accountancy department, Dr. Chikwelu Mbaonu, who explained that forensic accounting is the use of scientific knowledge for collecting, analyzing and presenting evidence In court.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Chairman on the occasion Dr. Joseph Aroh who also doubles as a Chief lecturer, implored the students to key into the theme of the seminar as it will impact positively on their lives.


In a remark, the President of NAPAS, Comrade Henry Ugochukwu, who listed some of the numerous projects of the Association which include fixing of office doors, wiring and electrifying of all class rooms among others, said that achieving success has been their utmost desire as students.


Others at the event were the Deputy Senior Registrar, Mr. Dominic Nwagwu and the Polytechnic Legal Adviser, Barrister Fidelis Oduah among others.


The event was capped with unveiling of the “twenty-seventh edition of the Polytechnic Accountant Journal” and recognition of the best graduating students of Accountancy Department 2017/2018 set, Mrs.
Chidiogor Okongwu.
