Leaders of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, in the South East geopolitical zone have nominated and adopted Comrade Innocent Nduanya of Anambra state to vie for the post of National President of the council 23rd June this year.
The unanimous decision was made in Awka during the declaration ceremony of Comrade Nduanya, where he made his intention to vie for the post of President National Youths Council known to the entire council in the South East zone.
Among the states present at the event were Enugu, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia and Anambra states.
Addressing the youths, the immediate past Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Matters, Comrade Chinedu Obidigwe, urged the youths to always be united for them to get what belongs to them.
While regretting that youths in the zone are facing a lot of challenges in the country, Comrade Obidigwe said NYCN as an apex umbrella body of the youths has failed in its mandate of ensuring that youths are provided with a lot of opportunities to better their lives, resulting to societal ills like insurgency, armed robbery, kidnapping and prostitution among others, cautioning the aspirant Comrade Nduanya not to compromise with government if he wins for him to get it right.
On his part, the National Vice President South East NYCN, Comrade Ogechukwu Nemene, said the move by the aspirant is a zonal project as according to him, no one from the Igbo extraction has risen to the post since inception in 1964, and charged Ndi Anambra to rally round him to ensure that the dream is actualized.
In a speech, a two time chairman of the council in Anambra State, Comrade Nwabufo Nwankwo, called on youths to imbibe humility as a virtue, commending the aspirants for his conduct since he joined the council from the local government level, saying he is the best option at this point in time.
In their various speeches, the chairmen of the councils in Imo, Comrade Izunna Agwuncha, his Ebonyi state counterpart, Comrade Charles Nwigbo and their Enugu counterpart Comrade Paschal Ugwu, represented by Comrade Joseph Eneh, as well as their Anambra counterpart Comrade Samuel Egwuatu, promised their unalloyed support to the project which they said must end up in favour of South East, even as they called on South East governors to give them necessary support like their counterparts in other zones normally do.
Presenting his manifesto, the aspirant, Comrade Nduanya said he will bring to bear experiences he garnered over time to develop a four year human capacity roadmap for the youths.
The Director General Comrade Nduanya campaign Committee, Comrade Okezie Ohalete, promised to explore all avenues to ensure that he delivers the aspirant, calling for the support of all.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
