People from all walks of life at the weekend joined Obosi community in Idemili North Local Government Area to witness the triennial Ito-Ogbo ceremony of the community.
This year's Celebration took place at Obosi township field, Afor Adike.
The one hundred and thirty Octogenarians that gathered at the field were flanked by their family members, friends and well wishers.
Presenting an address during the event, the traditional ruler of the Community, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, said they celebrate and honour their aged ones for being privileged to enjoy the grace of longevity.
While congratulating Governor Willie Obiano on his landslide victory in the November eighteenth 2017 Governorship election, the Royal Father appreciated him for leading a team of professionals to find a lasting solution to erosion problems facing the community.
In their separate speeches, some prominent sons of the community, Chief Emeka Anyaoku who is a one-time Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, and a former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, expressed joy for being part of the celebration, which commenced over three centuries ago.
On his part, the President-General of the community, Deacon Mmadu Bosah, prayed for long life upon the celebrants and for God's guidance on their people.
One of the Octogenarians who is a retired Director of Administration in the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Ogbueshi Chike Arinze, thanked God for his blessings upon his life, family members, the ABS and co celebrants, but regretted that his wife was not alive to witness the event.
Highpoints of the event were decoration of the Octogenarians, cultural displays, cutting of the birthday cake by the celebrants in their various homes, among others.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
