Obiano Reassures On Completion Of Erosion Control, Reclamation Project At Odume Layout Obosi Soon

The State Government is to fully complete on going control and reclamation works on the major erosion sites along Minaj-Onitsha Military Barracks Road, Odume Layout, Obosi before the end of next month.

Governor Willie Obiano disclosed this when he inspected control works on the road.

The erosion challenge which occurred mid-last year, had caused a major gully deep enough to submerge a ten -storey building, destroying many buildings and property.

It however took the prompt intervention of the State Government after Governor Obiano paid a visit to the site last year, for control and reclamation works to commence on the site.

During the Governor's inspection visit to the site , it was observed that the erosion has been fully controlled with a network of roads totalling about six kilometers being constructed to enable proper channeling of flood water on the road.
Speaking after the inspection exercise, Governor Obiano said his government has kept to its promise to tackle the erosion challenge, adding that the State government has fully mobilized the contractor to ensure that the project is delivered before the next rains.

He expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done by the contractor, noting that with the completion of the project, residents of the area who hitherto lived in fear, will now heave a sigh of relief.
