Governors of the five South Eastern States have expressed their commitment to ensuring that the late former Vice-President, Dr Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme is given a befitting burial.
The Governors made this known after their meeting at the Government House, Enugu.
Those in attendance were Governors Willie Obiano Anambra, Dave Umahi Ebonyi, Okezie Ikpeazu Abia, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Enugu who is the host while Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State was represented by his Deputy Prince Eze Mmadumere.
Addressing newsmen after the meeting, the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, Mr Dave Umahi, said the forum had set up a committee headed by the Director General of the Forum's Secretariat Professor Simon Ortuanya to oversee the realization of the objective.
He revealed that the forum during the meeting looked at the committee's budget to ensure that it is well-planned to achieve the mandate.
Governor Umahi, further said the forum also took briefings on previous deliberations on the proposed Southeast railway project and efforts to ensure proper fixing of gasoline pipeline at industrial harbours in the Southeast.
According to a programme of event released by the family, activities to mark the final burial rite for the Elder Statesman who died on the nineteenth of November, 2017 in London, at the age of eighty-five, will commence on Friday, nineteenth of this month, through Sunday fourth of February.
