The Nigeria Police Force says it will deploy a total of one thousand, three hundred police officers to man the Anambra Central Senatorial district re-run election.
The State's Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar disclosed this while briefing the press at the Command Headquarters, Amawbia.
The Anambra Central Senatorial District re-run election scheduled for Saturday is expected to hold in one thousand, five hundred and forty eight polling units across one hundred and nine wards in seven Local Government Areas including Anaocha, Awka North and South, Dunukofia, Njikoka, and Idemili North and South.
Movement into these local government areas according to the Commissioner of Police will be restricted.
The Commissioner who disclosed that five policemen will man each polling station, however, stated that the restriction will not affect people on essential duties.
He restated the preparedness of the police and other security agencies to ensure a hitch free election.
He assured political parties, candidates, supporters and voters in the election of their safety throughout the period of voting and collation.
