The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA yesterday kickstarted its campaigns for the January 13th Anambra Central Senatorial District bye-election with a Mega rally in Awka.
At Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, venue for the flag off, APGA faithful, fans and supporters of APGA from within and outside the state converged to express their solidarity with the APGA candidate for the election, Chief Victor Umeh.
Governor Willie Obiano, the member representing Njikoka, Dunukofia and Anaocha Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Dr Dozie Nwankwo and his Awka North and South Federal constituency counterpart, Chief Anayo Nnebe, Wife of Late Biafran Leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Chief Mrs Bianca Ojukwu, wife of Anambra Deputy Governor, Mrs Oby Okeke, former APGA Governorship candidate in Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, renowned industrialist Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, among numerous others, were dignitaries that graced the event.
Governor Obiano who at the event, agreed to work as the Chairman of Chief Umeh's Election Committee to make sure that he emerges victorious, said he has what it takes to be a strong voice for Ndigbo in the Senate.
The Governor who noted that the victory of APGA in the just concluded governorship election in the state is a strong message that APGA is on the move, said he is also aware that it is a call to duty on his part, promising that he will not disappoint Ndi Anambra.
The APGA Candidate for the Election, Chief Umeh who was also the Chairman of the Governor's re-election campaign, expressed happiness that Ndi Anambra listened to the voice of reason and voted for APGA in the Governorship election and assured them that the Governor's second term will certainly witness improved developmental milestones in the state.
Thanking Governor Obiano for solidly supporting him, Chief Umeh promised that if elected, he will work closely with him to ensure that Anambra gets everything due her from the center and advance the cause of APGA and Ndigbo in the country.
The member representing Awka North and South Federal constituency in the National Assembly, Chief Anayo Nnebe who during the event decamped to APGA, revealed that his decision to join the Party was to fully identify with the movement for the emancipation of Ndigbo.
In their separate remarks, Chief Mrs Ojukwu, Dr Otti and Prince Ukachukwu acknowledged that by voting massively for APGA in the November 18th election, Ndi Anambra have restored the pride of the Igbo nation, describing Chief Umeh as APGA's number one foot soldier and is sure to win the January 13th Senatorial election.
